PROMOTION Enjoying every season Looking back on a summer of fun for the residents of Oak Hl novelty of tea being served in individual Teddy Bear's Picnic party boxes. Our chefs produced a special tea with sandwiches cakes, savouries and biscuits all Teddy- shaped. Activities ranged from Hook-a- Duck to throwing sponges into buckets but it was only the very young who participated in the face-painting. kicking footballs and rolling down a bank on the lawn. The arrival of an ice-cream van A swe move throughout each year there are changing seasons to enjoy. No doubt we all have our favourite but they all follow each other whether we enjoy them or not; life too can be viewed in seasons As we look back on the summer months, although we have had plenty of rain, there have also been many long days of warm sunny weather to enjoy. This has allowed residents and their serving locally made ice-cream rounded off the very happy afternoon. As we move into autumn there's plenty to look forward to with the changing shades in our glorious grounds warming seasonal meals; a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support; an inter generational arts afternoon; a harvest festival and a wide range of activities families to spend time together on the terrace, while younger family members played on the extensive lawns The weather has meant that we've often been able to hold Social activities outside rather than indoors. The return of the Alpacas Nugget and Pippin was welcomed by our residents Ona previous visit during the winter months they were rather wet, offering something for all. The saying "While seasons change, true friends do not" is something we experience in our home all the time but this time residents were able to feel the long, luxurious fibres of their dense coats. A special Wimbledon tea was very popular, particularly the delicious strawberry tarts made by our chefs while several residents from the adjacent retirement village joined our residents for a very well attended Pimms afternoon. Wetry to ensure that everyone at Oak Hall feels part of an extended family and a recent Teddy Bear's picnic provided a wonderful opportunity for residents, staff their children andgrandchildren to enjoy former members of staff who have moved onto new careers pop in to see residents; former respite residents come back when they need another rest; relatives remain friends of Oak Hall and are happy to support events we hold or even become Oak Hall volunteers.
