PROMOTION One Year on At Oak Hall Care Home in Haslemere we were delighted to welcome our first three residents on the day we opened in November 2018. Since then, it has been a year of 'firsts' for Oak Hall Our first Christmas presented the same dilemma that anyone moving into a new home experiences -where to put the Christmas tree? We settled on having four! As we moved through 2019 the 'firsts continued including: visits from our local MP and the High Sheriff of Surrey: an Open Day complete with Heavy Horses. Pimms and Cream Teas. music and drama performances by local school children: a Teddy Bear's picnic for residents and staff along with their children. grandchildren and even great grandchildren; a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan and a Harvest Festival, while our first Remembrance service was organised and run by a resident who was keen to do so. At Oak Hall the well-being of our residents is at the centre of everything we do, with equal emphasis placed on providing excellent Quality of Life as Quality of Care. In addition to our varied Social Engagement programme, we tailor activities to the individual whenever possible. Recently these have included a trip to an evening operatic performance for an opera lover taking a dog for a walk attending meetings in the community or simply meeting a friend at a favourite coffee shop The finale of our first year was a party for residents. relatives, staff and guests. With a celebration tea including a birthday cake prepared by our chefs: musical entertainment: a fun raffle: a visit from the Mayor and gifts for all the residents and staff who had been here since Day 1, it was a fitting end to our first year.
